End of wait for PRP MLAs Hyderabad: The loyalists of Chiranjeevi and his flock of MLAs and MLCs from the erstwhile Praja Rajayam seem to have a reason to cheer up. The stage has been set for giving them due representation in the State council of ministers.
They are likely to be inducted into the cabinet as part of the long awaited expansion either before the ensuing session of the State Legislative Assembly or immediately after it. The leaders of this group are getting ready for a Delhi visit on a manoeuvring mission.
It is more than ten months since the PRP opted for unconditional merger with the Congress party. Failing to get due importance in the new party, they are getting restive and made up their minds to convey their feeling to the high command.
The party leadership also seems to be seized of the issue and keen on finalising who all to be inducted and who not in the next expansion. Chiranjeevi who called on the Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi recently, had discussed the issue.
Mrs Gandhi was understood to have asked him for the list of candidates to be accommodated in the ministry and also to be considered for other political appointments. She was reportedly assured by him that the list would be furnished after taking leaders concerned into confidence.
Accordingly, he had several rounds of talks with the MLAs and other leaders in the process of short listing the aspirants from his side. He had reportedly submitted the list to the PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana.
Three berths are likely to be given for those who came from the PRP. MLC C Ramachandraiah and MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao are certain of their induction into the cabinet.
Many of the MLAs have started campaigning vigorously to brighten their chances for the third berth. Prominent among them are Bandaru Satyananda Rao, Vanga Gita and Kannababu from East Godavari district and Vellamapalli Srinivasa Rao from Krishna district.
Bandaru, a second time MLA and Vanga Gita, who merits consideration under women quota have equal chances.
The case of Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao has reportedly enjoyed the backing of the Tamil Nadu Governor, K Rosaiah.
If it is to be a region-wise consideration, the final three are likely to be Balkonda MLA Anil (Telangana), C Ramachandraiah (Rayalaseema) and Ganta Srinivasa Rao (coastal). But Anil stands hardly any chances as he happens to be a first time MLA.
If the former PCC president, D Srinivas is also to be inducted, there would not be any scope left for a second person from the same district. The sources said that Vanga Gita would be considered for the post of the government chief whip in case she did not make it to the council of ministers.
Nirmal MLA Maheswar Reddy is also aspiring for the ministerial berth or at least the chief whip post.
Mr Chiranjeevi is ready with another list of MLAs - Basavaraju Srinivas, Goutham, Buragadda Vedavyas, Talari Manohar, Uma Malleswar Rao and Kotagiri Vidyadhar Rao for appointments to different government corporations.
Many of the aspirants from PRP origin are expected to leave for New Delhi for meeting important leaders and try their luck in a day or two.
