TDP wants to expose Jagan's real strength HYDERABAD: What is the real intention behind the Opposition TDP moving a no-confidence motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government? It is meant to nail the 'lies' of YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy that he has got the support of more than 50 Congress MLAs.
The TDP is more interested to prove that Jagan's sway over Congress MLAs is on the wane in the wake of CBI probe into his assets. The YSRC has no numerical strength to topple the Congress government on its own.
Cornering the Congress government on the farmers' issue will be secondary for the TDP. So that it can prove Jagan wrong. It will also help the TDP win the hearts of farmers for taking up their cause.
The TDP is well aware of the fact that the Congress has enough strength in the state Assembly to run the government. Actually, it has a strength of more than 10 MLAs required to defeat the no-trust motion.
It needs the support of only 145 MLAs to defeat the no-trust move as seven seats in the Assembly are vacant.
'Jagan used to claim that he could topple the Congress government, if the TDP moves a no-trust motion. Let him do it, if he can,' TDP MLA Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu dared the Kadapa MP on Saturday.
In the past, the TDP wanted Jagan to parade his MLAs before the governor and topple the government without waiting for the Assembly session. But Jagan failed to take the challenge.
Now, the TDP wants to prove on the floor of the House that there is no truth in Jagan's taTll claims. On the other hand, the TDP is keenly watching the political drama in the YSRC camp as it is claiming that it got the support of 28 MLAs on one day and 21 MLAs' support on the next day.
'Earlier, Jagan claimed that he could pull down the Congress government, which was at his mercy. But, where is he now?' a TDP MLA questioned.
Meanwhile, rebel MLAs G Bala Nagireddy, S Venugopalachary and K Hareeshwar Reddy may return into the TDP fold again. According to TDP sources, Venugopalachary who was in touch with Jagan till now, has decided to come back to the TDP.
It may be recalled that a disqualification petition is pending against Bala Nagireddy (Mantralayam), who switched his loyalty.
Venugopalachary (Mudhol) and K Hareeshwar Reddy (Parigi) quit their posts along with Nagam Janardhan Reddy.
Speaker N Manohar who accepted the resignation of Janardhan Reddy, is yet to take a decision on the resignations of Venugopalachary, Hareeshwar Reddy and Jogu Ramanna.
Now, the TDP is also trying to convince Ramanna to increase its strength, the sources added.
