Jagan emerging as a force Hyderabad, Dec 6 (INN): National parties more often than not recognize that local factors count, but fail to acknowledge the fact. The same was witnessed in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh in quick succession with the ruling parties BJP and Congress facing the heat.
Ruling BJP suffered a humiliating defeat in Bellary at the hands of a rebel, who is the supporter of Gali Janardhana Reddy while Congress has to part with some of its legislators to YSR Congress during no confidence motion in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Defying the whip, Congress MLAs loyal to YSR favoured the no confidence motion and stood with YS Vijayamma, who went emotional during her maiden address in the House.
The consequences and legislature rules apart, the message to the national parties is loud and clear that they have to respect local sentiments and people who really matter can hold the sway on people.
Mamata Benarjee, ND Tiwari, Sharad Pawar, Karunakaran, PA Sangma and others must have left Congress and the party structure stood the vagaries of time is a different thing, but in the changing times strategies should change and a little bird says that Bellary Brothers and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ran into trouble after they allegedly planned to float a political party to prove their strength.
Jagan did float a party, while the Bellary brothers ensured that their baton is safe in the hands of their loyalist.
With PRP merging with Congress and TRS slowing down, the state is not left as a bi-polar entity as a third force has emerged in the form of YSR Congress.
The fledgling party with one elected member in the Assembly is bound to increase its strength, should the Speaker disqualify the legislators who defied the whip of Congress and PRP.
Sitting as a separate bloc in the assembly YSR widow, Vijaymma is bound to embarrass the House and the two main parties quite too often.
Whatever be result of the no confidence motion, whatever would be the result of the defiance of whip, it is again a multi-party affair in the State and the days to come will see more and more polarization'but from which side and to where is something to wait and watch.
