Do or die battle on cards in Kovvur Nellore: With main stream parties mobilizing all 'resources' for the lone by-election in coastal Andhra, Kovur constituency, the speculation is rife over the outcome as it became prestigious issue for the YSR Congress Party, Congress and TDP.
With 2014 general elections not far way, the parties are leaving no stone unturned to ensure victory in the by-poll to boost morale of their party cadre. The parties nominated state-level leaders as in-charges at mandal levels and entrusted the responsibility on them.
The Congress Party roped in Union Minister Panabaka Laxmi, State Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan for campaigning. Nellore MLA M Sridhar Krishna Reddy, MLA B Radhaiah, former MLAs Magunta Paravatamma, K Vishnuvardhan Reddy, MLAs Anam Vivekananda Reddy, Adala Prabhakar Reddy, MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy and Pattabhirami Reddy entrusted each mandal to take care of party responsibility.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP roped in state leaders to ensure victory of Nallapureddy Prasannakumar Reddy. Nellore MP Mekapato Rajamohan Reddy, Nellore district leader K Goverdhan Reddy and former Minister Konatala Ramakrishna are coordinating the campaigning.
Bhuma Nagi Reddy, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Alla Krishna Reddy, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy were told to look after the affairs of each mandal in the Kovur constituency.
The principal opposition TDP is meticulously planning the campaigning at booth level in every village. MLAs B Durgaprasad Rao (Gudur), Parasa Venkataratnam (Sullurupeta), K Ramakrishna (Venkatagiti), B Mastan Rao are monitoring the poll campaigning.
TDP senior leaders Kodela Sivaprasad Rao and Devi Umamaheswar Rao camped in the district to ensure victory of the party candidate. The CPM which is also in the fray pressed into service the leaders and activists of party frontal organizations. The party is also planning public meetings of the state leaders in the constituency.
