Cong. MP caught in Tara's porn web Hyderabad: Police crackdown on the sex racket run by one R.Tara Chowdary, which came to light with the help of her victim Marepalli Laxmi from Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam, has thrown light on the extensive network Tara was running in neighbouring states also.
After poring over the seized laptop and visiting cards and other material during the raids on her house here, the police learnt about her activities in a posh bungalow in Bangalore city. The police have also seized her mobiles and are tracking her contacts in other states.
Tara and her husband Prasad, arrested on Saturday, were on Sunday sent to judicial custody till April.
It may be recalled that Tara's activities were busted following exposure by her victim Marepalli Lakshmi who was allegedly lured into flesh trade by Tara who claimed to be a film producer.
The startling facts about her network in other States tumbled out after her arrest. She created a big scene at the police station and in fact a police official intervened and attempted to hush up the entire affair.
However, widespread reaction from the public across the State made him see the reason and back off. Ironically, he is also said to be among the victims of Tara Chowdary.
Preliminary investigations by the police also revealed that among the victims of Tara are a major businessman belonging to the ruling Congress Party, a former Mayor of Guntur city and a popular company owner in Kurnool.
She is also said to have contacts with a senior police officer and two youth leaders of an opposition party from Kurnool district. It is learnt that she has filmed their sexcapades and has been allegedly blackmailing them.
She is also reportedly blackmailing a ruling party MP in Andhra Pradesh and threatening to expose porn films secretly shot on him with the women deputed by her.
She is even allegedly forcibly making use of one associate of the MP, Prasad, for various activities. Recently, she was reported to have fallen out with the company head from Kurnool and even hatched a plan to eliminate him by employing the services of some contract killers from Mumbai.
According to the police, Tara was earlier charged with several cases of prostitution in Bengaluru, Chilakaluripeta, Guntur and a few other places.
She was among those arrested from a brothel in 2005 by the Banjara Hills police. She grabbed the attention of the media and public in 2010 by filing a compliant against an SI of Guntur police station, alleging that he had tried to rape her maid servant.
Tara had acted in some low-budget Telugu movies. A native of Guntur, Tara, whose real name is Rajeswari, was also accused of sending e-mails through Internet at random and luring customers to her brothel. The Banjara Hills police said further investigations were on.
