Mohan Babu to take on Chiru? Hyderabad: Film actor Mohan Babu is curious to be a star campaigner of either YSR Congress Party or the TDP to counter the Congress party's 'charismatic' leader and film actor K Chiranjeevi.
There has been a strong buzz in the political circles that Mohan Babu was holding continuous discussions with the leaders of the two parties to get a good berth in one of them.
Sources said that Mohan Babu was desperate to show off his political maturity and wanted to prove that he was more senior than Chiranjeevi in the State politics.
The senior actor and former Rajya Sabha member, who recently said in the presence of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu that he had no enmity with Naidu at his birthday celebration organised at Sri Vidya Niketan in Tirupati, gave strong indication that he was preparing ground to join the party.
Sources said that Naidu was ready to allow his former bete noire into the party fold. But, the TDP chief had not given assurance about Mohan Babu's political future in the party as his brother-in-law and film actor Balakrishna had already occupied star-campaigner post in the TDP.
The YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was also trying hard to rope in Mohan Babu. Taking his clout with the in-laws of Vishnu Vardhan (son of Mohan Babu) as an advantage, Jagan was also holding parleys with Mohan Babu.
Though initially Jagan was not ready to give a good position in his party, he assured to give MP ticket from Chittoor or Tirupati Parliamentary constituency in the next election.
