Election heat picking up in Nellore Nellore: As the Election Commission has announced the schedule of the by-polls to Nellore Parliament seat and Udayagiri Assembly constituency, political parties have geared up their political campaign in Nellore district.
While former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy is contesting on behalf of YSRCP, Vanteru Venugopal Reddy is in the fray on TDP ticket.
However, despite the rumours doing the rounds that the name of Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy for Nellore Lok Sabha seat has almost been finalised, the Congress is yet to announce his name officially.
Similarly, the candidate's name for Udayagiri Assembly constituency has not been finalised by the Congress party.
Both the YSRCP and TDP launched their campaign some days ago and were ahead in canvassing than the ruling party.
However, the senior Congress leaders like Anam brothers, Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Nellore rural MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy and some others have swung into action and are conducting a series of meetings with the party cadre to gear them up for the election campaign.
Interestingly, GVK Reddy, a noted industrialist, who hails from Indukurupeta village of Kothuru mandal in the district and is also a relative of T Subbarami Reddy (TSR), is now canvassing for the success of TSR.
