Vamsi's future in TDP hangs in balance Hyderabad: The future of Vallabhaneni Vamsi, TDP president of Vijayawada urban, would be decided after May 3.
It can be recalled Vamsi had met YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy recently during his road show and even embraced him giving rise to speculation that he would soon join YSRCP.
The TDP had immediately issued a show cause notice to him. Vamsi later had denied this and said that it was just a courtesy call and nothing more. He also said that he would meet the party president and offer an explanation.
According to party leaders, TDP president who was busy campaigning for the party candidates would return to Hyderabad on May 3.
Vamsi was likely to meet him soon after his return as the party politburo was scheduled to meet on May 4.
The party would decide the future course of action depending upon the explanation Vamsi offers.
In a recent press conference at Vijayawada, he claimed that he was a follower of slain TDP leader Paritala Ravindra and hence there was no question of his leaving TDP.
This claim by Vamsi does not seem to have gone well with the followers of Paritala. They told media that Vamsi was not a follower of Paritala nor was he close to him.
In the meantime, a serious exercise is on to finalise the name of Macherla candidate in Guntur district. According to party sources, Chirumamilla Madhu had emerged as front runner for this seat.
The names apart from Madhu which are under consideration are that of Ravi and Nimmagadda Vasu. Some TDP leaders had even suggested that a candidate from Reddy community be given the ticket.
But since the main criteria for consideration of ticket is the winning horse, the party had decided to narrow down its choice to Kamma community, party leaders said.
Madhu is the son of Narsaiah who worked as the chief security officer when N T Rama Rao was the chief minister. Madhu also enjoys the support of N Balakrishna who of late is playing important role in policy matters of the party.
