Vamsi's silence leaves TD cadre guessing Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Party's Vijayawada urban president Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan, who is facing disciplinary action for his meeting with the YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the city on April 27, is keeping the party leaders and cadre guessing over his next move.
Though he had given a written explanation to the show-cause notice to the party disciplinary action committee chairman, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, in Hyderabad a week ago, his attempt to meet the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, had failed as the party chief refused to give him an audience. Even the party politburo, which was held last week did not give importance to Vamsi's issue.
While the party chief's refusal to give him an audience and no reference to his actions and reply at the Politburo indicate that the party had decided to show him the door, Vamsi had reposed his faith in the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu and promised to continue in the Telugu Desam.
However, after his return from the capital, Vamsi remained silent and is not meeting the party leaders. He is only meeting a select group of his supporters and not speaking to any of the leaders.
He is also not responding to the requests of the media persons and is spending his time mostly in his home town, Gannavaram. He is also intensively exploring the possibility of contesting to the State Assembly from Gannavaram, which was his dream and which was denied to him by the Telugu Desam in the 2009 elections.
As he is serious on Gannavaram seat, he is meeting his supporters from every village in the constituency and is collecting their views, it is said.
On the other hand, the YSR Congress leaders and the cadre close to its leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, are of the opinion that Vamsi had already made up his mind to join the party.
However, they said that the young leader was only looking for a suitable occasion to switchover his loyalties.
It is also said that a section of the YSR Congress leaders and also the supporters of Vamsi were asking him to make the announcement when the campaign for the by-elections to the 18 Assembly seats and Nellore Parliament seat ends on June 10 as that would help increase the image of the party.
The leaders here are reportedly planning for a big show a day before the poling for the 18 Assembly seats to build a positive image for the party that would also have positive impact on the voting. However, the party leaders are not confirming these talks.
