Naidu's counselling did not work with MLA Hyderabad: A day after his announcement that he will bid adieu to TDP in 2014 election, the party MLA from Nuzvidu Ch Ramakotaiah on Saturday called on party president N Chandrababu Naidu at Nellore, where he was participating in by- poll campaign in the Parliamentary constituency, and reiterated his decision to join YSRC Party.
Though TDP leaders have taken initiatives to curb and repress attrition of party MLAs and MPs to YSRC Party, but their announcement of joining it before the by-elections is directly affecting the party's poll prospects, according to sources.
Party sources said Naidu tried to convince Ramakotaiah to reconsider his decision, but the MLA was firm on his stand. Taken aback, Naidu asked Ramakotaiah to wait until another meeting to be held at NTR Trust Bhavan after the by-elections.
Sources said the disgruntled MLA also expressed anger for not taking action against his rival party leader Jitendra, who was running a Trust and working against the party interests in the constituency, though he repeatedly complained against him to party high command since last year. Naidu assured Ramkotaiah that he would look into the 'leadership problem' in the constituency.
Addressing the newsmen, party official spokesperson, V Ramaiah said that his party chief has asked the Krishna district leaders to explain the reasons, which forced Ramakotaiah to take the decision to quit the party.
Naidu also asked to district leaders to monitor the movements of the party leaders following the threat of 'poaching' by YSRC party.
