Will Botsa survive 'Bobbilli Yuddham'? Vizianagaram: Time has come for the ballot that decides the fate of PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and the Bobbili royals in the district.
The resignation trump card played by the Bobbili MLA from the Congress party in favour of the YSR Congress, will face a litmus test soon.
It had dented the Congress party and caused headaches to the ever-so-confident Botsa Satyanaryana.
Who will sail through and who will bite the dust will be decided in the June 12 by election to the Bobbili Assembly seat. The Congress ship sunk further with Parvathipuram MLA Jayamani going the Jagan way.
This sudden impact left Botsa, who believed that none could so much dent his bastion, eating his words. Mr Botsa relied solely on his political acumen to converge the Congress forces towards the party and himself.
But the resignation phase, especially of theBobbili royal Sujai Krishna Ranga Rao and Jayamani's open support to Vijayamma, are proving to be his Waterloo.
Though not directly, it is being implied that YSR CP president Jaganmohan Reddy, who is in jail at present, has planned the whole resignation drama of Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao who resigned from the Assembly as well.
The later's statement to the press whether his action was right or wrong would be decided in the by-poll is an indication of his readiness to be tested alongwith the YSR CP.
As for Botsa Satyanarayana, he is trying to maintain calm. Though he has declared that losing one or two MLAs will not make a difference to the party, he seemed to be inwardly agitated.
He is trying to be his own confident best. Congress party sources revealed that he is trying to tell Jayamani not to resign from the Assembly like Sujay Krishna. He arrived at Vizianagaram on June 2 and stayed back there that night to talk to the Parvathipuram MLA.
Similarly, he spoke to District Congress Committee president Kolagatla Veerabhadraswamy who it appears has been eyeing the YSR CP with keen interest. The latter has not even denied these reports and this is being viewed as significant.
Now Botsa it seems is calling every MLA of the party to see that they do not leave his side. Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao has submitted his resignation to the Assembly seat.
If it is not accepted and there is no change in Vizianagaram politics after the elections, otherwise it may said that there is going to be a 'Bobbili war' in the district.
Sujay Krishna won on the Congress ticket in the last Assembly elections from Bobbili with a majority of 11,000 votes. This victory came after the reconstitution of the Assembly segments.
The royal is testing himself to see whether it was the party clout or his own strength that made him win, some royal sources revealed.
He plans to prove through the by election that Botsa had nothing to do with his win and in fact it was his strength that was lent to the Congress party.
Through his win the royal wants to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with as well as create a platform for the dissidents both in the Congress as well as the TDP.
Consequently, he alongwith his brother former Bobbili municipal vice chairman Babynayana met all YSR CP leaders in the district together without any middlemen.
It is a clear indication of their future political game plan. At the same time they want to strengthen the YSR CP which they imagine would turn out to be a nightmare for Botsa. But there is a mixed response to the MLA's resignation in the district.
Apart from the dilemma whether there would be a by-election in Bobbili, Botsa Satyanaryana is having sleepless nights over it, like a Damocles sword hanging over his head.
That is why is spending time talking to all the Congress leaders in the district. In case there is an election, then Botsa will have to look out for a candidate.
