YSRC nails CBI JD's selective leaks Hyderabad: The YSRCP alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been selectively leaking certain information pertaining to the interrogation of their party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy ever since he was asked to appear for questioning by the probe agency.
In their attempt to establish this, the party released a call list of CBI Joint Director V V Lakshminarayana which had some interesting aspects.
The call list of his mobile contains several calls to media persons including 386 calls to TV9, 142 calls to NTV, 153 calls to ABN and 300+ calls to some mobile number registered in the name of Vasireddy Chandrabala. (No: 9618490234).
YSRCP leaders claim she was related to the managing director of Andhra Jyoti newspaper and ABN news channel sparking off a war of words between media representatives and the YSRCP.
Nearly 432 calls were made from Lakshminarayana's two mobile numbers (9441433444 and 9441113444), YSRCP said in a press release. The party leaders demanded a through inquiry into the reasons for a CBI JD to have telephonic conversations with her and ABN for over 300 times.
The shocked reporters held a press meet and explained that as part of a crime reporters' job, it was natural that they would call not just the JD but a number of other police officials. They also recorded and replayed some of the threats they were receiving from Sakshi.
Demanding an apology, the reporters warned that journalists' unions would protest against the Sakshi TV and YSRCP if personal attacks of this kind were not stopped. They said that the Sakshi or YSRCP, in its bid to expose the CBI or JD Lakshminarayana, were dragging the names of the reporters into it and attributing motives.
Responding to the charges, the YSRCP later clarified that the reporters were not their target. 'Our accusations were directed towards CBI JD Lakshminarayana. There was no need for JD to speak to reporters,' the party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said.
As per rules, he contended, the JD should not converse with the media. 'We question the values of managements of the channels, not the reporters,' he said. JD's way of dealing with the cases has been on a wrong track from the beginning.
He acts at the behest of others. Calls were made from his number to Chandrabala's number and from there to an MD of a channel. We suspect the link between all the three. We strongly feel that Lakshminarayana is ineligible to head this probe. We demand he be shown the door,' he added.
The YSRCP leaders said: 'The CBI has been desperately trying to get permission for narco analysis tests on Jagan and Vijay Sai Reddy.
We fear that the life of Jagan is under threat.' The Supreme Court had clearly ruled that Narco tests are not scientific and hence should not be conducted on any accused.
