Vijayamma's visit energised cadre Vijayawada: The YSR Congress honorary president, Y S Vijayamma, who came here for the party's dharna on power crisis, energised the party cadre during her day-long whirlwind tour on Tuesday.
Vijayamma was given a rousing reception at the Gannavaram airport and was brought to the city in a motor rally. She drove straight to the residence of former legislator and party leader, Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, on M G Road in Governorpet and spent some time interacting with the loyalists of late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
Then, she visited the party Krishna district office at Chuttugunta on Eluru Road, where she interacted with the party leaders and asked them to keep the cadre busy and active.
She also wanted the leaders to take up the problems of the people and fight for them. She had asked the leaders to be with the people as the party chief, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, was with them before he was sent to jail in a conspiracy.
She then drove to the dharna venue at the AP Transco Superintendent Engineer's office and sat there for three hours protesting against the failure of the government in supplying power to agriculture and industrial sectors even in the rainy season.
At the dharna, she was the centre of attraction for the gathering while she spent the time interacting with the leaders from the district.
Though her speech was not inspiring, but the message was clear for the cadre who were waiting for Jaganmohan Reddy to come out of the jail.
The lunch and rest at the party urban convener and former legislator Jaleel Khan's house gave her time to interact with the women leaders, whom she had complimented for their hard work.
The party women activists led by Zilla Parishad former vice-chairperson, Tatineni Padmavathi and the city former mayor, Tadi Sakunthala, met Vijayamma for two hours.
After paying a courtsey call to the bereaved family related to Samineni Udaya Bhanu, she had left the city to Gannavaram airport with the party leaders and cadre following her to see her off at the airport.
Her seven hour-long stay is said to have helped the party to get fresh energy that would help in planning and organizing more activities in the days to come.
'Her visit had helped the party to get the rank and file charged with more energy to take up more issues concerning people and fight with the government,' asserted the party district convener Udaya Bhanu.
