Kiran relents on nominated posts for party men HYDERABAD: The state government has proposed to appoint regional chairman for the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC).
Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has finally got a nod from the party high command to fill up nominated posts which were pending for the last several years in state.
AICC general secretary and Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad conveyed the party's decision to Kiran Reddy with regard to the nominated posts.
Kiran Kumar Reddy would start the process of filling up all vacant nominated posts in a phased manner from October 15.
Congress leaders expect that CM would announce candidates for these posts as a Dasara gift. APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and CM Kiran Kumar Reddy seem to be keen on reviving regional chairmen system in APSRTC which was abolished after 2004 in the organisation.
All six regions of the RTC will very soon have new chairmen and they would automatically become members in APSRTC board. APCC would recommend names for the nominated posts.
Meanwhile, Botcha told reporters that the APCC would launch a membership drive from October 18 in Ghandhi Bhavan.
