Chiranjeevi to build mega studio in Vizag The Telugu Cinema industry, which moved from Chennai to Hyderabad, is finally shifting to Visakhapatnam in view of the agitation for separate State of Telangana which had hit the industry badly with increased incidents of vandalism.
'In view of the volatile situation prevailing in Telangana, the Telugu film industry has mentally made up its mind to build studios in the city and surroundings,' said Minister for Ports and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who is also a close associate of Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi.
He said Chiranjeevi has been planning to build an ultra modern studio with all the facilities. Chiranjeevi gave a hint last year while talking to the media. He announced that given a chance, he would settle down in the picturesque City of Destiny.
Movie mogul Dr D Ramanaidu has already built a modern studio on the Bhimili Beach Road, which was inaugurated by former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy on August 17, 2008.
Bringing several facilities for a smooth filming experience, Dr Rama Naidu has created the studio with special ambience in Vizag.
All variety of places like court, park, bungalows and other frequently formed sets are permanently constructed.
Film star Anoushka, Rajmouli's wife Rama purchased land near Bhimili and others who acquired property in Bhimili, Sagarnagar, Chepalauppa, Rushikonda and PM Palem include Allu Aravind, Nagarjuna, Jagapathibabu, Balakrishna, Murali Mohan, music directors Ramana Gogula, film director Puri Jagannath, comedians Ali and MS Narayana. Some had also purchased lands in benami names.
While inaugurating his car dealership in the city two years ago, actor Murali Mohan said the face of Vizag would be changed in the next five years.
'Vizag has all the natural beauty in Araku Valley, Borra Caves, Bhimili Beach Road and the Eastern Ghats. Good days are ahead for this city,' the minister told the reporters.
