Komatireddy may soon quit Cong to join YSRCP Nalgonda: Though it is not yet confirmed, the political trend in Nalgonda district indicates that former Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy has been contemplating the idea of joining YSRCP along with his brother and MP Komatireddy Rajagopala Reddy.
Many political leaders within Congress or in other parties in Nalgonda district are unable to understand the mood of the Nalgonda MLA.
He was keeping a low profile in the agitation for separate Telangana. After strong pressure from TRS and other Telangana activists to make his stand clear on Telangana, Komatireddy Venkatreddy had categorically stated that he would strive for separate Telangana.
Later, he resigned for the Minister's post to demand separate Telangana state. He also undertook hunger strike for some days in this regard.
Since he took the stand in favour of Telangana, he has been critical of both State Government and the Centre for the delay in settling the issue.
Senior Congress leader Palvai Govardhan Reddy flayed that Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and his brother Komatireddy Rajagopala Reddy (MP from Bhuvanagiri) are in Congress only to get some contract works.
He alleged that Komatireddy brothers have been working in the party as coverts of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. In a move to give strength to the allegations, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy conducted a meeting in Nalgonda on October 2.
He invited Sanigaram Santhosh Reddy from Nizamabad and Indrakaran Reddy from Adilabad to participate in the meeting. Of the two, Santhosh Reddy already resigned from Congress and joined YSRCP.
Indrakaran Reddy also resigned from Congress 10 days ago and had stated that he would join YSRCP. Indrakaran Reddy and Komatireddy Venkatreddy are also relatives.
Under the circumstances, both Komatireddy Venkatreddy and Rajagopal Reddy are likely to join YSRCP, political circles opine. Meanwhile, YS Jaganmohan Reddy's sister Y S Sharmila plans to carry out her `Maro Prasthanam' padayatra through Nalgonda district.
YSRCP leaders Uppunuthala Purushotham Reddy, Jitta Balakrishna Reddy, Sankineni Venkateswara Rao and others are striving to make Sharmila's Padayatra a success in the district. Komatireddy brothers may likely take a decision during Sharmila's tour, sources said.
