T MPs feel betrayed, cries foul over reshuffle HYDERABAD: The Congress high command's sudden decision to shift S Jaipal Reddy from the powerful petroleum ministry to a lesser prominent portfolio has not gone down well with the Telangana Congress leaders, who see it as another instance of injustice to the region.
'Our high command has done injustice to the Telangana region during the Union Cabinet reshuffle.
MPs from the Seemandhra region were given more berths whereas senior Telangana leader S Jaipal Reddy was shifted to a ministry which is in no way related to people,' MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy said.
The new shift has added to the woes of the leaders who are already unhappy with the dilly-dallying over the separate statehood issue.
Telangana leaders also feel that apart from Jaipal Reddy's confrontation with the Reliance Industries, the complaint by the chief minister camp's that Jaipal has become a rallying point for Kiran Kumar Reddy's detractors (like Telangana MPs and minister DL Ravindra Reddy) could have prompted the Prime Minister to change Jaipal's ministry.
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, as soon as the BJP started attacking the Congress over shifting Reddy to the science and technology ministry, the Congress high command swung into action and sent Union minister Vayalar Ravi to Jaipal Reddy's residence on Monday afternoon.
Ravi, who is also the AICC emissary for the state, persuaded Reddy to assume office as early as possible. Soon after this, Reddy assumed the charge of his ministry at 5.30 p.m.
