Two is a crowd for all-party meeting
Hyderabad, Dec 12 (INN): Centre inviting two persons from a party for the All Party Meeting on Telangana seems to be a very unjust proposition as any Party cannot have a dual stand on any given issue.
Since the issue is about bifurcation of the State, may be the Centre must have invited two persons from each of the nine political parties it has invited to take part in the All Party Meeting.
The meeting is only to gather opinion is one talk going the round and it is only to keep its promise to the Telangana MPs who were pacified before the voting on FDI in 51 per cent retail is somewhat clear.
Whether one person is called or two or more, the stand of the party cannot differ. But in this specific case the main players Congress, TDP, YSRCP and BJP will be in a fix if they spell out the party line openly.
It is like the categorisation issue that has come up in the Assembly during the voting on SC, ST Sub-Plan Bill 2012. If they support categorization, their base in Andhra will erode and vice-versa.
Now if two persons go to Delhi and tell their respective versions, need not be contradictory as any number of people going from TRS will ask for a separate state so is the case with CPI.
On the other hand CPM and MIM will resolutely oppose the move and Lok Satta in all probabilities will join them.
It is left for national parties Congress and BJP and regional outfits TDP and YSRCP to walk on a tight rope. Ahead of the 2014 general elections, it will be litmus test for these parties as they have chose between regions or skirt the issue saying that they are willing for balanced development of all the three regions.
Anyway, inviting two persons from a political party is not a prudent idea, unless it is by some design.
