A new Telangana political front on cards
HYDERABAD: A new political formation appears to be taking shape to fight for Telangana. Being described as the 'Telangana Political Front' for now, it will have others, apart from TJAC constituents.
The trigger for the formation of the new front is the reluctance of the Congress to resolve the T tangle.
As the Congress kept postponing a decision, the political parties that operate in Telangana want to get together, sinking their ideological differences and work with only one objective, securing statehood for Telangana region.
Telangana votaries believe that the Congress will stand exposed after Jan 28 because it will not make any statement in favour of Telangana and this will galvanise the T forces to come together.
The Congress MPs want to do something and be counted in the party's calculations, especially on the number of Lok Sabha seats it would win in the Telangana region.
Congress MP Madhu Yashki Goud openly said if the Congress is not ready to deliver Telangana state, all the parties in the region would form a front. Several Congress leaders who are in a dilemma over joining the YRSC are also showing interest in the front.
Congress MPs Manda Jagannadham, Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Meanwhile, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, G Vivekananda and Sircilla Rajaiah met at the residence of Manda here on Friday.
Former PCC chief K Kesava Rao and MLC K Yadav Reddy also took part in the four-hour-long meeting.
Already, Manda, Gutta and Vivekanand have dropped enough hints that they might quit the party soon after the latest statement of AICC state in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad that the Centre needs more time to decide on the T-issue.
The meeting decided that a fresh letter be sent to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi urging her to accord statehood to Telangana at the earliest.
Later, talking to reporters, Kesava Rao said, 'We won't compromise on the Telangana issue. We are ready to work with any party for the sake of achieving statehood for our region.
