Balayya on mission to revive party's fortunes Vijayawada: Film hero and Telugu Desam leader Nandamuri Balakrishna, is on a mission to revive the party in Krishna district, particularly the Gudivada Assembly segment. He is on a tour to the Assembly segment, from where his father and mother hailed, holding interactions with the youth, meeting with elders and seeking their support.
The TD leadership is firm on getting the Gudivada Assembly segment back into its fold after the defection of sitting MLA Kodali Nani. Though the TD had roped in former MLA Ravi Venkateswara Rao into the party, it has decided to entrust the responsibility of the segment with Balakrishna.
Hailing from the Gudivada segment, Balakrishna can count on the support of the relatives of both his father N T Rama Rao and mother Basavatarakam. While NTR was born in Nimmakuru village, Basavatarakam hailed from Komaravolu village, and Balakrishna is in regular contact with the relatives here.
In fact, he has been busy holding interactive sessions with the relatives in both the villages for the last two days, besides meeting the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu. As Naidu's 'Vastunna Meekosam' yatra is scheduled to enter Gudivada segment in the next two days, the party is being geared up to make it a success.
The leadership wants to show the party's strength as an image builder against the sitting MLA Kodali Nani. The leaders have taken the padayatra in Gudivada as prestige this time and sent a clear winning signal for the next elections, as the sitting MLA is set to seek re-election on YSR Congress for the third consecutive term.
Balakrishna has already held a series of meetings with all the sections of people in Pamarru and Gudivada Assembly segments and is also walking along with Naidu to give a boost to the party.
Though he is considered as a potential candidate for the next election from here, the cadre is in a state of confusion as the party chief had promised the seat to Ravi family, when Venkateswara Rao was roped in.
It is to be seen how the party would handle the situation and promote Balakrishna here against Kodali Nani and wrest the seat. The voters in Gudivada are closely watching the movements of Balakrishna and the public support for the padayatra of Naidu.
