Congress mulls action against Jagan loyalists HYDERABAD: The Congress high command is learnt to have given green signal to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana to take disciplinary action against Jagan loyalists in the Congress.
The top leaders of the state Congress received the go-ahead during their recent Delhi visit. This has emboldened PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana to once again warn loyalists of the YSR Congress chief in the Congress of disciplinary action if they back a no-confidence motion against the state government.
The state Congress chief, who had some days ago said that Jagan followers in the Congress were deemed to have been expelled from the party, made it clear on Sunday that his party would no longer spare them.
Talking to reporters at his residence here, he said the no-confidence motion would, in fact, lay bare the actual strength of the YSRCP in the Assembly.
'The Congress government is not afraid of facing a no-trust motion since we are sure that it will be defeated because our party has sufficient strength in the Assembly,' he claimed.
The AICC leadership has given the go-ahead for disciplinary action on the calculation that acceptance of the resignations of four pro-Jagan MLAs along with that of chief minister's bete noir Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, and disqualification of four others will help the Congress defeat the no-trust motion easily.
The Congress Legislature Party's leadership will ask Assembly speaker N Manohar to accept the resignations of S Vijaya Krishna Ranga Rao (Bobbili), Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas alias Nani (Eluru), Maddala Rajesh Kumar (Chintalapudi), Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy (Kakinada Urban) and Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy (Punganur).
Besides, the party is contemplating suspending Perni Venkata Ramaiah alias Nani (Machilipatnam), Buchepalli Siva Prasada Reddy (Darsi), Gottipati Ravi Kumar (Addanki) and Jogi Ramesh (Pedana) and requesting the speaker to disqualify them as members of the Assembly.
If the resignations are accepted, the strength of the House will come down from 293 to 288 and the magic figure needed for the government's survival from 147 to 145. The Congress, after losing the nine MLAs, will have 147 members in the House and can survive the no-trust motion.
