Vallabhaneni eyes Gannavaram seat VIJAYAWADA: Though the appointment of Vallabhaneni Vamshimohan as Telugu Desam state organising secretary is not a surprise development for observers and party leaders in Krishna district, the million dollar question remains to be the immediate step he is likely to take at this juncture.
According to sources, Vamsi is not happy with his latest post and is much keen to contest for the Gannavaram Assembly seat. If he does not get a concrete assurance on the ticket, he is learnt to be wanting to quit the party and join the YSR Congress.
It may be mentioned here that his close friends - Gudiwada MLA Kodali Srivenkateswara Rai aka Nani and former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna are now with the YSRC.
Vamsi was replaced by Nagul Meera as TDP urban unit president on Tuesday, while Kesineni Srinivas aka Nani, the owner of Kesineni Travels, was appointed the incharge of Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency. The development has sent signals that Vamsi would be forced to the party on his own.
He has been facing a rough weather in the party ever since his meeting with YSRC president YS Jaganmohan Reddy during the latter's 'Odarpu Yatra' in the city in April last year following which he was asked to give an explanation by Naidu.
It is worth mentioning that Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, who is not in good terms with Vamsi, allegedly played a key role in removing Vamsi from the urban president post.
It is also learnt that Kesineni Nani wanted to remove Vamsi as the urban president and appoint his aides instead. Though the latter is expecting the Gannavaram MLA ticket, he is not sure if the party gives him ticket.
Naidu said said the party would decide from where Vamsi would contest. However, a senior leader in the YSRCP said Jagan is angry with Vamsi for his comments, after his meeting during 'Odarpu Yatra' in Vijayawada last April.
