KCR set to push out Vijayashanti from Medak HYDERABAD: TRS firebrand and Medak MP Vijayashanti's latest outburst at her party leadership over the issue of contesting the Medak Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 general election is creating a furore among the party leaders.
The leaders feel that she might be pre-empting any move by party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao to shift her from the constituency.
According to sources, Rao has not so far made up his mind over allotting the seat to retired IAS officer KV Ramanachary by shifting Vijayashanti, the sitting member, to some other constituency but she resorted to a pre-emptive attack on the former bureaucrat.
As Ramanachary, who hails from Siddipet in the Medak Lok Sabha constituency, will be joining the TRS soon, Vijayashanti apprehends that his joining the party might jeopardise her renomination for the Medak seat.
'Though the TRS chief did not say a word against Vijayashanti on the matter, she might be apprehending that she would be asked to vacate the Medak seat for Ramanachary. Hence her attack on him,' explained a close aide of the TRS chief.
Ramanachary, who took voluntary retirement from government service when he was principal secretary (endowments), is all set to join the pink party soon. He is learnt to have requested the TRS chief to field him to the Lok Sabha from Medak.
There is also speculation that Rao himself, scouting for a safe seat, is eyeing Medak since Mahbubnagar, which he represents at present, may not be a safe bet for him as the BJP and the YSRCP are emerging stronger there.
Making it clear that there was no question of giving up her claim over Medak and sacrificing her seat for the sake of anybody, Vijayashanti said, 'I am not ready to vacate the Medak seat for the sake of either any IAS or IPS officer. Why should I sacrifice my seat for an officer who spent all his life serving the government which is against Telangana people?'
She, however, said that if the TRS chief wanted to contest the seat she would discuss the matter with him and take an appropriate decision.
Vijayashanti's husband Srinivasa Prasad has scotched the rumours that the issue of who should contest the Medak parliamentary seat in 2014 created a rift between Vijayashanti and the TRS chief.
He told that there were no differences between Viajayashanti and the party supremo. 'Both will be touring the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency together in a couple of days as part of the Nagara Baata programme,' he said.
