Sabitha, Dharmana likely to be axed HYDERABAD: After Union ministers Pawan Kumar Bansal and Ashwani Kumar have been shown the door following allegations of corruption, now it could be the turn of state ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao, who have been charged by the CBI in connection with Jagan assets case, to be given the boot.
According to sources, the Congress high command is likely to ask chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy very soon to drop the tainted ministers from the Cabinet to give it a clean look, in the run-up to 2014 polls.
The AICC top brass is learnt to have been convinced by the argument that the Congress in the state could not attack effectively the alleged corruption of Jagan unless it acts against its own ministers who are facing similar charges.
'After our party's victory in Karnataka polls, party president Sonia Gandhi has decided to give importance to ethical governance. She feels the war of Congress against the corruption of BJP government has paid off. So, she wants to go on similar lines even in AP,' said a minister.
The party top brass might start setting things straight here soon after the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi on May 21, he said. Sonia Gandhi is learnt to have told party seniors who met her recently that she would concentrate on AP affairs very soon to prepare the party for the ensuing general elections.
The leaders who met the AICC president are Union ministers D Purandeswari, Panabaka Laskhmi and Sarve Satyanarayana, MPs Ananta Venkatarami Reddy and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, and ICC secretary Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy.
'Flooded by complaints from the camps of Kiran Reddy and PCC chief Satyanarayana against each other, the high command is understood to have decided to set the house in order very soon,' a leader said.
