Heirs ready to take plunge into active politics HYDERABAD: Like in tinsel world, the inheritance factor is visible prominently in state politics too, more so in the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Around 20 young leaders, all political heirs of TDP senior leaders, are waiting eagerly to dive into electoral politics in 2014 polls. Most of them are sons of TDP leaders.
TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has already announced that 33 percent of seats in Assembly elections will be given to youngsters. Naidu's son Lokesh is already participating actively in party affairs.
He helped Naidu during his 208-day padayatra and also attended the two-day Mahanadu in Hyderabad recently.
Though Naidu did not make any announcement of Lokesh's entry into active politics, as party chief he declared that he would encourage young blood.
Following Naidu's statement of giving 33 percent seats to youngsters, sons of several leaders started showing more involvement in TDP programmes expecting Assembly or Lok Sabha seat. At the recent Mahanadu of the party, sons of some senior leaders were seen seated on the dais.
Ayyanna Patrudu's son Vijay, Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy's son Venkatesh and others even addressed the Mahanadu. Naidu's son Lokesh was seen interacting with young leaders during the conclave.
It may be recalled that Naidu, during his padayatra, declared at Srikakulam that the late K Yerran Naidu's son Rammohan would be his political heir.
This was also a reason for senior leader Daadi Veerabhadra Rao to quit the TDP. During his padayatra, Naidu also encouraged MLA Paritala Sunita's son Sriram in Anantapur.
It is likely that Naidu's son Lokesh too would contest in the next Assembly elections from Chittoor district.
