Jaipal's `slip of tongue' amuses Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy, known for his subtle remarks, once again proved his mettle when he craftily played with the words to cover up his `slip of tongue' and tickled the audience at the IICT-CSIR's 70-year celebrations on Sunday.
This happened during his 40-minute long address, when he mispronounced DNA as NDA, `oops'. But the Union Minister immediately corrected himself saying, 'Being a politician, I have an obsession with NDA and UPA. Please understand it as DNA and not NDA, which of course, is fragmented now'. The packed auditorium burst into laughter with his prompt cover up.
The slip of the tongue was preceded by another `slip' by the Minister who almost fell down while taking seat that was marked for him. Thanks for the guards standing behind him who acted in time to save the Minister from injury and embarrassment from the slip.
Later, the Minister declined to comment on the spate of resignations and the agitation in Seemandhra region in protest against the Congress Working Committee decision to bifurcate the State.
'I don't wish to comment on it,' he said repeatedly. Jaipal Reddy, who expressed his happiness at the announcement of formation of Telangana in New Delhi, has been a silent strategist all through.
He also gave no reactions to the rumours that his name is also under consideration for the Chief Minister's post in the new State.
