Bandh blues to newly wed couples Aashadam, which is considered inauspicious period for brides to stay with their mothers-inlaw, has ended and the auspicious Sravanam month has begun.
Accordingly, newly-wed grooms are getting ready to visit their inlaws' houses. However, strike by NGOs with APSRTC unions supporting it has come as a bolt from the blue to newlyweds and others who have chosen this auspicious period for marriage and other important functions.
In fact, going by available `muhurats' many grooms had opted for August 12 or August 16, since both the dates are considered auspicious for bringing back their spouses from their mother's places.
The strike call has dashed their hopes.Thousands of marriages scheduled in Sravanam would be affected by the strike involving Government and RTC employees.
Even `purohits' are worried, as their earnings during the auspicious month could dip. Although train journey is an alternative, the RTC employees' decision would increase pressure on transportation of people by train.
