Congress ready to dump Kiran Hyderabad: Congress high command appears to be readying to get rid of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy who has become a hurdle in the way of division of Andhra Pradesh.
The party central leadership has not taken kindly to the threat held out by the Chief Minister that he would not mind quitting if the Centre went ahead with the process of Telangana state formation.
An indication of the high command's mind was available when AICC spokesman Sandeep Dikshit said it was up to the Chief Minister whether to continue in the post or quit.
'It is his (Kiran) personal decision; we leave it to his discretion, it is an issue between him and the high command,' said Dikshit, while replying to queries from media persons in Delhi.
What assumed significance was Dikshit's reiteration that the Congress party was committed for Telangana state and there was no question of going back on it.
The AICC general secretary said that the Antony committee would elicit opinions on five to six subjects. Later, its report would be included in the draft Bill on Telangana, Dikshit explained.
Referring to Seemandhra leaders' comment that the note of CWC on Telangana should be torn off, Dikshit said: 'It was their personal opinion'.
He further said that Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar had not accepted the resignation of Seemandhra MPs till now. 'I have no information on their resignations. Till now they were not accepted; perhaps they may have withdrawn them,' said Dikshit.
Dikshit, however, refused to comment on the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Minister P Vishwaroop saying that it was a State related matter. Vishwaroop tendered his resignation in support of Samikyandhra cause.
