Did Pawan only wanted to push Nagababu? Hyderabad: Although his good friend, Tamil actor Vijay, may have made a statement refuting news of him stepping into Tamil Nadu politics, looks like the cloud surrounding the entry of actor Pawan Kalyan into AP politics is far from clear.
While many of his admirers felt that the star might return to politics after his emotional outburst at the success meet of `Attarintiki Daaredhi' a fortnight ago, his joining forces with Telugu Desam Party have made the rounds at multiple occasions over the last six months.
That neither Pawan Kalyan's close circle nor TDP leaders have commented on his entry for a long period, the speculations have gained momentum in the last one week.
Speculations were further fuelled after TDP leaders Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy extended an olive branch to Pawan Kalyan to join TDP.
Contradicting the views of TDP leaders, Minister Ghanta Srinivas Rao, a close confidant of Union Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi, stated that Pawan Kalyan is comfortable only with films as of now. 'He has taken over from where his elder brother has left and I don't see him in politics,' he said.
To rewind a bit, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma's flurry of tweets insisting that Pawan Kalyan should float a political party of his own is another reason that made Kalyan's name hog the head lines for various political reasons.
According to our sources, Pawan is keen to play the waiting game till the 2019 elections. However, the buzz is that he is firm on helping out his brother Naga Babu in contesting from Machilipatnam or Narsapuram Parliamentary constituency on behalf of TDP in the coming elections.
When contacted Naga Babu on the same, he denied the news. 'The news is completely false. Some sections of the media, who I'm not aware of, have created the news. I've never met any TDP leaders so far.'
He also set the record straight about Pawan's political leanings. 'Pawan will not join TDP. We are currently busy with our films', he said, without adding much.
He also said that he is with his elder brother Chiranjeevi. 'He is into Congress, so I'm also with it. I don't see myself getting involved with politics actively, but I will support my elder brother and will work with him.'
At the same time, there are people who want Pawan in politics, though they have their own apprehensions. Bheemaneni Srinivas Rao, who directed Pawan for `Suswagatham' and `Annavaram', says, 'People like him should enter politics as it benefits the society at large. But his mindset is not cut out for politics. He speaks his heart out and it just doesn't work in politics. The current political system favours corrupt people.'
Although Naga Babu spoke on behalf of his younger brother, wonder why Pawan is refusing to make a statement is what his fans are most concerned about. Well, he can take a cue from his Tamil Nadu counter part!
