Kishan Reddy eyes berth in Modi cabinet Hyderabad: If everything works out well, Bharatiya Janata Party State-unit president G Kishan Reddy might become part of the dream Cabinet of party's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi after 2014 elections.
According to sources, Kishan Reddy, who presently represents Amberpet Assembly constituency, is contemplating entering national politics in the New Year and he is likely to contest from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency in 2014 general elections.
With wind blowing in favour BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi all over the country, the state BJP president finds Secunderabad as the best place to get into national politics.
Sources said that Kishan Reddy conveyed his intensions to contest for Parliamentary elections in the party meeting recently. At present, Secunderabad Lok Sabha Constituency is represented by M Anjan Kumar Yadav of Congress party, who has won from here for two consecutive times in 2004 and 2009.
Earlier, this constituency was represented by BJP's senior stalwart Bandaru Dattatraya, who won three times from here- 1991, 1998 and 1999. He was also the Union minister of state for Railways in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinet. Dattatraya had to face defeat in the hands of Anjan Kumar Yadav in 2004 and 2009.
BJP sources said that when the proposal came in for discussion, many of the party leaders welcomed it and wanted a young leader to contest from this seat.
Sources in the party said that when the proposal came in for discussion, many of the party leaders welcomed it and wanted a young leader to contest from this seat. Sources said that Dattatraya would be sent to the Assembly and most likely he would be given seat from Goshamahal constituency.
The party expects to win Goshamahal with ease this time since many of the North Indians are voters here and Modi wave would benefit the party. There are indications that minister M Mukesh might not contest in the next elections and instead, he might field his son. There are more than 10 aspiring candidates for Goshamahal constituency in the Congress party, added sources.
The BJP president's intensions attain significance as the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen decided to contest from Secunderabad. The entry of MIM into the election foray into Secunderabad meant benefit for BJP. To Kishan Reddy's advantage, there are some pockets with strong Telangana sentiment.
'Kishan Reddy has good rapport with Narendra Modi, who is impressed with his performance in the State. He has another advantage over his side in the form of veteran leader M Venkaiah Naidu. The party president would have a last laugh,' said a BJP leader.
Sources said that the Amberpet Assembly constituency would be given to Nandkishore Vyas (Bilal), who joined BJP from Congress.
