Potluri Prasad mulls joining TDP Vijayawada: The business tycoon, Potluri Vara Prasad, popularly known as PVP, has almost moved into the Telugu Desam Party after he had failed to get his demands accepted by the YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The sources close to PVP told that PVP had already met the TDP chief, N Chandrababu Naidu and had joined the party.
Prasad's name did rounds here for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency on the YSR Congress right from the day one of the party's formation. Having close business contacts with Jaganmohan Reddy, PVP was sure of getting the party ticket to contest the 2014 elections.
PVP had demanded at least one Assembly segment be given to the Kamma community in Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency. He had also favoured one Kamma leader for Mylavaram, Jaggaiahpet or Vijayawada East Assembly segments, if he had to contest the elections. He had also given the names of Mylavaram former legisalor Jyesta Ramesh Babu, Vijayawada East former legislator Adusumilli Jayaprakash.
However, it is understood that Jaganmohan Reddy had turned down the suggestions forcing PVP to distance from the YSR Congress. After PVP's walk out, the YSR Congress had reportedly requested the industrialists Nimmagadda Prasad and Koneru Prasad to contest the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat, who have also refused for reasons not known.
Meanwhile, having moved away from the YSR Congress, PVP had reportedly cleared his route in the TDP. It is said that the TDP had offered him Vijayawada, Eluru, Ongole and Hindupur Lok Sabha seats giving him a chance to choose his option.
PVP will have to convince private travel agency owner Kesineni Srinivas in Vijayawada, former MP and former Minister Maganit Babu at Eluru and former minister Karanam Balaram at Ongole.
It is said that PVP is giving weight to Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat where he secured recognition as potential candidate for the Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, Kesineni Srinivas, is understood to have received feelers from the party chief to get ready to leave the seat for PVP. It is said that Srinivas had given his consent and had reportedly told the leadership that he would accept any assignment given to him.
