Spurned by KCR, Jayasudha knocks TDP doors Hyderabad : Actor-turned-politician and Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha is now looking at Telugu Desam Party as an option after Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrashekar Rao cold-shouldered her request to join the pink brigade.
According to sources, Jayasudha is looking for better options since she has made up her mind to desert the Congress. Sources said that the Congress MLA was not willing to stay in the party since the party's graph was coming down each day.
The MLA got in touch with the TRS deputy floor leader in the Assembly T Harish Rao, expressing her desire to join the party. She wanted to contest from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency in the coming elections. When the TRS deputy leader took the issue to the party president, he was not too keen on the proposal, claimed sources.
They also said that when Harish Rao brought up the issue, KCR pointed out that T Padma Rao would be the party's candidate from Secunderabad Assembly segment in the next election.
However, Harish Rao apparently told KCR that the Telugu film actress was insisting on contesting the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency, which has a sizeable number of settlers from Seemandhra region. It is learnt that the TRS chief was against giving a seat to a 'settler' as it would send wrong signals to the cadre in Telangana region.
The TRS chief, who had tough time when it came to the behavior of Medak MP Vijayashanti, is learnt to have said that he would not want any more film actors in the party.
Vijayashanti insisted on contesting from Medak Lok Sabha, which incidentally is being eyed by the TRS chief himself. However, sources said that there were reasons other than the popularity graph of Congress.
"The popularity of the MLA in Secunderabad was also on the down side and hence she wants another safe constituency. Adding to this, there are pockets in Secunderabad segments, which have strong Telangana sentiment," said a TRS leader.
Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana, who represents Malkajgiri in the Lok Sabha, is keen on seeking re-election. With this, there is no chance for Jayasudha to stake claim over this seat, sources added.
There are reports that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to contest from Malkajgiri LS seat in the event of bifurcation of the State. With no scope in Congress and TRS, the actor-turned-politician is now pinning her hopes on TDP, said sources adding that the TDP Greater Hyderabad president T Srinivas Yadav is seriously thinking of shifting to Sanathnagar Assembly constituency.
Sources said that there are instances where Jayasudha had appreciated the works of Srinivas Yadav in interviews with a few television channels.
