Pawan comes handy for TDP to stop 'Jagannaut' HYDERABAD: A day after film star Pawan Kalyan formed Jana Sena Party and gave a call to the people to defeat the Congress, it is slowly becoming clear that the actor is likely to join hands with the BJP and TDP in the ensuing general elections.
Even as political circles are trying to decipher the 'real reason' behind Pawan's sudden political foray, the indications emerging from the TDP and the BJP camps suggest that the actor might have floated the party to improve the electoral prospects of these two parties.
Lending credence to this argument, the TDP and the BJP leaders welcomed Pawan's new party and some of them went to the extent of inviting him to join hands with them to dislodge the Congress from power.
For instance, film personality-turned-politico Murali Mohan, who is considered as close aide of TDP boss N Chandrababu Naidu, expressed happiness over Pawan's political plunge.
'I am extremely happy that Pawan has launched a new party to defeat the Congress, because of whose rule the state is in a sorry state of affairs now,' he said.
He also gave a piece of advice to the young actor saying that if Pawan join hands with the TDP in the general polls, he could achieve his objective of removing the Congress from the country.
Not to be lagging behind in winning over Pawan, BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu too cheered the actor's act of floating a new party with an objective of defeating the Congress.
'Pawan's slogan of 'remove Congress and save country' is being welcomed by many. His decision to launch a fight against the Congress is a good development. Once the film star unveils his party's modalities and agenda, we will decide our stance on his party,' Venkaiah Naidu said.
Referring to Pawan's displeasure over Venkaiah's recent reported remarks on him, the BJP leader said he never derided Pawan Kalyan as was reported in some newspapers.
'I had not criticised Pawan's plans to float a party. In fact, I said it would be better if he launches a party for the welfare of the society. But, my remarks were misreported in the press,' Venkaiah remarked.
Further unravelling the mystery behind Pawan's new party, some of his fans have begun asking him to back the TDP in the general polls.
'Pawan should support Chandrababu Naidu in the general polls. If Naidu becomes the chief minister of residuary state of Andhra Pradesh, he would develop Seemandhra,' said R Rajesh Yadav, Chittoor district president of Pawan Kalyan Fans' Association, in Tirupati.
Jana Sena to help improve TD prospects
Whose vote bank would Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena cut into? This is the question, being analysed by several politicos following the film actor's political entry.
As Pawan is trying to take on the corruption plank, several leaders say that he might be targeting YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRC, thus helping the TDP improve its electoral fortunes.
In fact, this was indirectly indicated by Pawan Kalyan himself in his fiery speech during the launch of Jana Sena. Some of the TDP leaders, during private talks with scribes, say that if Pawan joins hands with their party, first time voters with whom Chandrababu Naidu has lost touch because of generation gap, might definitely support the TDP as several of them are followers of the film star.
The yellow party leaders further hope that a section of Kapus, to which caste Pawan belongs, might also lean towards the TDP in case there is tie-up between the two parties.
