PVP to contest for LS with Pawan's backing Prasad V Potluri (PVP), a noted industrialist, who aspired for the TDP ticket for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha and was refused by Chandrababu Naidu, reportedly held talks with the BJP and faced rejection there as well. It now looks like he is set to have the last laugh.
PVP, said to be the financial arm of actor Pawan Kalyan, is likely to contest as independent. Pawan will campaign for him. If the TDP-BJP-Pawan grand alliance materialises, then TDP will field a weak candidate, as part of the understanding and help him win.
The BJP has zeroed in Daggubati Purandeswari as its candidate for the seat.
She may be asked to contest from Visakhapatnam and K Haribabu, who is slated to contest from Visakhapat nam, will be fielded for the Assembly.
Reports from the TDP camp suggest that Naidu has promised Kesineni Srinivas (Nani), owner of Kesineni Travels, who backed his `Vastunna Meekosam' padayatra.
With TDP and BJP racking their brains and trying to reach an agreement, Pawan, taking up PVP case, has brought new equations to the fore. However, pertinent questions here are why not Jana Sena ticket for PVP?
What is the logic in supporting a candidate who was rejected by both parties? Sources say that Pawan is hesitant to field PVP, as the Jana Sena candidate, because of his alleged involvement in YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy's disproportionate assets case. Despite that he is keen on canvassing for his financial backer.
