Parties resurrect dead souls to evoke sympathy Hyderabad: With an intent to bank on the legacy of late leaders NTR and YSR, both TDP and YCP have been trying their best to resurrect them with the sole purpose of coming to power by gaining sympathy votes.
The TDP has been boasting about the late CM and party founder N T Rama Rao as their icon, while YCP has been trumpeting about the leadership skills of Y S Rajashekara Reddy.
Leaders from both the parties ensure that before addressing any official or public meeting, they either garland a statue of the respective leaders or invoke their legacy at the drop of a hat. Both TDP and YCP cadres make sure that every poster or flexi they erect has a prominent place for both the departed leaders.
These parties are making use of every available medium, including social media like Twitter, Facebook and You Tube. Not far behind even social mediums have been constantly postings showing lime light to YSR and boasting him as the next YSR.
In fact, YCP's Facebook page has a fresh picture of YSR updated every day with statistics to nail arch political rival Chandrababu Naidu and his failed governance.
There is a comparison graph between YSR and Naidu, reflecting achievements during their respective tenures as chief minister.Political observers even ridicule that Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy tries to imitate the voice and slang of the late CM.
Strengthening these allegations, Jagan continues to do the 'Odarpu yatra' paying tribute to his father and awaken the sympathy within the masses, despite YSR passing away in 2009. YSR's picture is prominently places on the top right corner on Sakshi TV channel and even in the masthead of its Telugu daily.
YCP is making optimum utilization of YSR by including him in all their political advertisements which portrays Y S Jagan as next only to YSR. Even YSR's wife Vijayamma recently proclaimed that Jagan is the next YSR, who would fight for the rights of farmers.
Before the release of Jagan, during Sharmila's record breaking Padayatra, she surprised everybody by mincing the same words often used by YSR to make his presence felt with some highly emotional songs. In this rat race, TDP runs short of a mile as YCP has exploited all the possible horizons including social media.
