Naidu to use 3D tech for poll campaigning Hyderabad: Taking a cue from Bharatiya Janata Party's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, an equally tech-savvy Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu is all set to address election rallies by using 3D holographic technology.
As per the plans, a 3D hologram of Naidu would appear in 30 different locations spread over Telangana and Seemandhra. The TDP is aggressively embracing new technologies to ramp up its electoral fortunes.
According to party sources, Naidu is ready to tap the potential of the 3D technology and plans to address gatherings of several thousands of people in various important places across the State.
The shooting of the speeches is underway and key places are being identified by the party. It is expected that the technology would be put to use within a week's time.
The holographic technology creates a three-dimensional projection of the subject, giving an impression that the person is actually present at the venue.
By using this projection and coupling it with audio, the technology can be used successfully for campaigning and electoral purposes. Apart from being an effective tool of communication, this technology also captures the interest and imagination of the masses.
The TDP is eager to set up screens and theatres in remote and rural areas, apart from urban areas like Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam to influence the voters.
Naidu feels that time constraints prevent him from touring all the constituencies in the State. Therefore, he believes that using this technology would bypass this problem and also boost the confidence and prospects of TDP candidates.
Hyderabad-based Nchant3d, a company that has the unique right for the technology in India, has been approached by the TDP to replicate the success that they delivered in the case of Modi.
he technology has been used extensively by Modi since December 2012. In fact, he was the first politician in the country to successfully use it as a campaign tool during elections.
The 3D holographic technology was used to address rallies in 800 different locations. Modi has even entered the Guinness Book of World Records for "most simultaneous broadcasts of the Pepper's Ghost Illusion, a technology used to create multiple illusions simultaneously."
WHAT IS HOLOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY?
The technology uses a foil that is invisible to the naked eye to create the effect of three-dimensional projection. The foil is placed at a 45 degree angle to the stage, and the content from the projector is beamed on to the foil. The projections are reflected off the foil, giving an impression that a real person is present on stage.
