KCR scouts for winning horses Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrashekar Rao is still waiting for winning horses from various political parties to realise his dream of forming a government in the new Telangana State.
According to sources, the candidates' list may be announced on April 4, the same day Congress and other parties are expected to make an announcement.
The TRS chief is observing wait and watch policy before making a public announcement. The TRS chief has been making efforts to join leaders with an ability to change the fortunes in the constituencies.
'I am busy in finalising candidates and would soon announce the contesting candidates,' said KCR, addressing the gathering at Telangana Bhavan, where veteran comedian and TDP leader P Babu Mohan and others joined TRS on Wednesday.
Sources said that the inclusion of Konda couple Surekha and Muralidhar Rao was the latest example of selecting an able candidate. 'Even after stiff opposition from within the party and also from the Telangana Joint Action Committee on their inclusion, KCR wants the winning and capable candidates to work for the party,' said a senior TRS leader.
The TRS president feels that entry of Konda family would help the party in at least two to three constituencies, said the leader. The TRS chief had told his leaders to leave 70 Assembly segments to him so that he would have the final say on the candidates.
He reportedly asked his leaders not to recommend anyone from these selected segments. The TRS chief had banked on the entry of Komatireddy brothers with an eye on the constituencies in Nalgonda. However, the brothers stayed in the Congress.
The TRS chief is also looking at people with financial abilities, who could take care of the constituencies. A mining baron BB Patil joined TRS in the presence of KCR at a public meeting in Jogipet on Tuesday.
Sources said that Patil is likely to get a ticket from Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituency. The party is also looking at the strong second rung leaders of other parties, who can fight on TRS ticket if their respective parties deny tickets.
At present, the party is finding difficult to select a suitable candidate in at least over 30 constituencies. Sources said that the party president is also in fears that any early announcement of list may result in resurgence of rebels.
There is a wrangle between in-charges and nominees announced by the party in some constituencies. The party fears there would exodus of dissatisfied candidates after announcement of the official list, said sources.
