Kavuri snaps 45 year old bond with Congress Hyderabad: Former union minister and one of the most senior politician from Seemandhra region Kavuri Sambasiva rao has officially joined in BJP. On Thursday the veteran politician joined the BJP in the presence of Prime Ministerial candidate Modi and party leader M Venkaiah Naidu at Bhimavaram during a party public meeting called 'Vijaya Sankharavam Sabha.
Kavuri Sambasiva Rao aka KS Rao is very loyal to congress party and he was almost associated with 45 years to the party and very obedient to Ghandhi Family. He was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1984, and re-elected in 1989, 1998, 2004 and 2009.
The MP from Eluru in West Godavari district was inducted into the union cabinet in June last year. Kavuri initially wanted to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). However, the TDP leaders in West Godavari district opposed his admission into the party.
He is the second central minister to quit over the State's bifurcation and join the BJP. Recently Daggubati Purandeswari had resigned as a minister and also quit the Congress.
It's worth to recall that KS resigned from the Cabinet on April 3 to protest bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He has also announced that he would not contest the Lok Sabha polls on Congress ticket. Sources said that the veteran horse was offered by RS ticket and Union minister post by BJP if it comes into power.
