ATA honors Prasad Kunisetty with Prestigious Award Philadelphia, July 4, 2014: American Telugu Association (ATA) at its 13th Conference and Youth Convention being held from July 3rd till 5th has recognized and honored Prasad Kunisetty, the founder of TeluguPeople.com, with the prestigious Community Activity award.
ATA President Karunakar Madhavaram and Ambassador Vinay Thummalapally, US Dept of Commerce, highest ranking officical of Telugu origin in Obama Administration, at the ATA Banquet and Awards function held on July 3rd evening at the Grand Ball Room of the Pennsylvania Convention Center has awarded Prasad Kunisetty for his outstanding service to the Telugu community for more than a decade. Prasad, a former journalist has started TeluguPeople.com in the year 2000 and running it as an independent media organization with no political or regional bias.

Prasad Kunisetty started writing at the age 14. His short stories were published in children's monthly magazines. His first book 'Science Quiz' was published when he was 19. The book was a tremendous hit and it was reprinted within 3 months. He subsequently wrote 8 other books on various subjects including one on Computers. His letter to Andhra Prabha Daily (an Indian Express group publication) editorial landed him in a Sub Editor job while he was still studying his B.Sc., degree at AP Open University (now Dr. Ambedkar Open University).
Prasad simultaneously did computer programming along with Journalism. He built multiple applications for various clients in Visakhapatnam area. In 1998, Prasad was handpicked to join the newly created Internet Division of the Indian Express group in Chennai. He built dynamic websites for all of the Express Group's publications including the New Indian Express, Andhra Prabha, Dinamani, Kannada Prabha, Cinema Express and Malayalam Varikha. He left the Indian Express group in 2000 and joined an IT Company. He started TeluguPeople.com on the Vijaya Dasami festival in 2000. In 2001, he moved to the United States to pursue his IT career.
Prasad founded several businesses and non-profits including Effexoft Inc., Resultica Education Limited, TP Media India Ltd., TP Entertainment, TP Realtors and TeluguPeople Foundation. He produced a Hollywood movie 'Amy' by the well known Director from Tollywood RP Patnaik.
His latest initiative is American Association of Telugu Investors and Entrepreneurs Inc., (AATIE) to create an investment fund to invest in the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He is a life member of ATA since 2002 and a big supporter of ATA and it's activities. Prasad lives in Franklin Park, New Jersey with his wife and daughter.
