News: Special Stories | Telangana government to digitalize schools Government schools in Telangana may soon enjoy the fruits of digitalization. Telangana government has decided to introduce the computer education in all the government high schools by next academic year. In collaboration with United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund(UNICEF) the government will undertake the project. All the new digital lessons will be in accordance with the state syllabus. Government will select few lecturers who are well trained in IT to prepare the digital lessons.
In the first step, computer lessons will be introduced in 20 Kasturba Gandhi girls schools and 20 general schools. In KGBVs computer lessons will be provided for classes 6th to 10th and in general schools the lessons will be taught from 1st to 5th standards. Through this project UNICEF will provide three digital class rooms, computers, projector and internet facilities to every school. It will also help to train the lecturers in preparing the educational software according to the local syllabus.
On the other hand Telangana higher education ministry has put a proposal to government to make computer education mandatory for 8th 9th and 10th class students from next academic year. At present only few schools have the privilege of computerized classes. So the ministry has decided to expand them to every nook and corner of the state. If the government approves the proposal then computers will join the present list of six regular subjects.
If everything goes according to the plan government's initiative may change the fate of education system in Telangana and government school students will also be able to compete with the private school students and achieve global standards.
