Chandrababu Naidu participates in Yoga classes

Hyderabad, Jan 30 (INN): The second-day of Yoga and meditation classes by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev on 'Inner Engineering - for joyful living' witnessed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his council of ministers and government officials enjoying the sessions.

The session took off at 8 am and went on till 6pm with a series of Yoga asanas, kriyasand mudras.

They were taught how meditation is a powerful tool for spiritual growth, and is essentially a process to take one beyond the limitations of body and mind.

Today, 300 participants including IAS, IPS, IFS officers, district collectors and Mayors have been initiated into Isha Foundation's Shambhavi Mahamudra.

Isha's introductory practice is the Shambhavi Mahamudra, an ancient kriya that has millions of dedicated practitioners who aver that they experience greater emotional balance, concentration, focus, stability and better health with regular practice of the meditation.

During the session, officials were shown a documentary on their 'Project Green Hands' campaign to plant to prevent and reverse environmental degradation and enable sustainable living. The project aims to create 10% additional green cover in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India.

After the presentation, the Chief Minister asked Sadhguru to support his dream of increasing the green cover in Andhra Pradesh to 33% in the next 5 years.

Sadhguru offered to support the government in its efforts to support the state's initiative.

According to Sadhguru, Government of AP should make project Green Hands a massive effort in community building, encouraging supportive relationships between urban and rural societies, government and industry to shape the course of the world. It should become a people's movement with government and media's support, he added.

Yesterday, at the inaugural session, Chief Minister said this is the first time that a government is associating itself with Isha Foundation to include meditation and Yoga workshops in its schedules.

'We are all in the public service at various levels. We have many tensions, many challenges to face. We need to face these capably, efficiently ' and programs such as these are very important. We are at a crucial juncture ' we have a new state and we would all want Andhra Pradesh to lead the way in the decades to come. We need a happy and healthy society, and to achieve this, we need not just economic criteria, not just wealth creation... we need to be happy. We need to increase the happiness quotient of this state. And, workshops such as these will make us work towards this goal,' the Chief Minister said.
