Theatre owners to pay Tax online Hyderabad, Feb 7 (INN): GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar has claimed that the theatre owners in the limits of GHMC jurisdiction have come forward to join hands with the GHMC and Commercial Taxes Department to pay the Entertainment Tax in a more planned and transparent manner.
The GHMC Special Officer, Commercial Taxes Commissioner Anil Kumar and senior officials of both the departments held a meeting with the owners of the theatres in the GHMC limits here on Saturday. In the meeting the officials discussed various issues relating to payment of Entertainment Tax. The officials gave a demonstration, through a web-based online system, on the cinema halls, screens and seats available in them so that the management of the cinema theatres could give the correct information through web site on the bookings and vacancies.
Somesh Kumar said that the theatre owners have positively received the web service and assured that they would be giving correct information daily screen-wise and show-wise. He requested the theatre owners to cooperate with the GHMC in giving social messages in the interest of the citizens. He assured that the corporation would resolve their civic-related issues on priority basis.
Responding to the query, the Commercial Taxes Commissioner informed that Rs 60 Crore have been collected towards the Entertainment Tax from all the theaters in the twin cities from June 2014 to December 2014. On an average, he said nearly Rs 7 crores of Entertainment Tax is being collected every month. However, he said the actual income would be known after introducing the system which is going to be implemented from 1st week of March 2015.
GHMC Special Commissioner Navin Mittal, Additional Commissioners D. Harichandana, S. Hari Krishna and Jayaraj Kennedy and senior officials from Commercial Tax have attended the meeting.
