AP CM wants DELP to complete by 2016 Hyderabad, March 1 (INN): Impressed with the pro-active measures of the government towards enhanced Energy Efficiency activities which paves the way for considerable energy savings in the state of Andhra Pradesh, the Central Government has recognised AP as the best state and the best destination in the country for investments and implementation of Energy Efficiency activities.
As a part of its support towards its noble cause, EESL, MoP, Govt. of India has decided to organize a national level LED Manufacturing Industries CEO's round table conference on 10th March.
The conference will be inaugurated by the Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) P Narayana and will be attended Principal Secretary (MA&UD) A. Giridhar, Secretary (Energy) Ajay Jain, CMDs of DISCOMs, senior representatives of Municipal Corporations in AP, State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM), New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP (NREDCAP) and other senior officers from the state government. In addition, Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), CEOs from leading lighting industries or their senior representatives will be present along with the top members of two lighting associations namely Electric Lamp and Component Manufacturers' Association (ELCOMA) and LED Products Manufacturer's Association (LEDMA).
Reviewing the arrangements for the major event of CEO's Conference with MD, EESL Saurabh Kumar through teleconference Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy, I&I said that the proposed CEO's conference will be immensely useful for the state for ensuring considerable energy savings which ultimately benefit for the state and stake holders.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has emphasised the need for providing highly qualitative and reliable power supply for the consumers, fixed targets for the completion of DELP programme in the entire state by 2015-16. Accordingly SECM, Energy Department in coordination with other key departments have prepared action plan for implementation of EE & EC activities. On this occasion the MD/ EESL specifically thanked the Chief Minister for his unstinted support to EESL, Ministry of Power, GoI for achieving desired goals in EE & EC in A.P, which has become a role model for other states to ensure energy savings which benefits the nation.
The EESL with the coordination of SECM, MA & UD, and Energy Dept., which has completed the distribution of around 35 Lakhs LED Bulbs in domestic sector and around 80,000 LED street lights in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation in a record period in the first phase, now is contemplating to invest around Rs.1,000/- crores for implementation of EE & EC programmes in AP. The roundtable conference is expected to deliberate the key issues and challenges associated with implementation of LED street lighting system and DELP Scheme in domestic sector which are initiated by the Govt. of AP as a part of providing 24 X 7 power supply to all the domestic, commercial and Industrial consumers in a time bound manner.
The round table is being organised to deliberate on the issues and challenges that are associated with scalling up of LED based lighting programme and to identify and agree on a road map for time bound implementation.
Initially Govt. of AP have accorded approval for permitting EESL to take up pilot project in three municipalities viz., 1) Vizianagaram 2) Gudur in Nellore Dist. 3) Hindupur in Anantapur Dist. initially with 50% coverage on Energy efficient municipal street lighting by EESL for implementation of the project. Apart from the above three municipalities, Visakhapatnam municipal corporation has also been included in the pilot project for replacement of street lights which were damaged due to Hudhud cyclone.
Ajay Jain reiterated that the distribution of over 35 lakhs of LED bulbs was completed by EESL so far which results in annual energy savings of around 300 MU (30 Crores units).
