Vision Document on Hyderabad soon
Hyderabad, March 11 (INN): The Telangana Government is in the process of preparing a "Vision Document to make Hyderabad a Global City".
This was disclosed in the Socio Economic Outlook - 2015 titled "Reinventing Telangana - The First Steps" released by the Planning Department after the presentation of Budget for 2015-16 by Finance Minister Etala Rajender on Wednesday.
The responsibility of the document has been given to Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the work is in the tendering stage. Apart from the Global City Plan, the vision document will encompass various interventions, physical and social infrastructure developments. The State Government has decided to integrate all the five notified master plans and zoning regulations of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR) in its bid to transform the State capital into a global city. Using spatial technology, it is proposed to integrate five zonal master plans into one master plan. The integrated master plan is envisaged to help in better planning for administrators while also being amenable to an easier understanding by the general public.
The State Government is focusing on the completion of several projects which could change the very outlook of Hyderabad. "The New Industrial Policy Framework acknowledges the need for revitalising the industrial scenario of Hyderabad. In the New Industrial Framework, 14 thrust areas have been identified to reshape the stagnant industrial growth in the State, the new policy recognises and emphasise on reinventing Hyderabad's industrial eco-system. Particular emphasis has been laid on using Hyderabad as a growth engine to positively impact the entire State," says the Economic Outlook.
Mentioning about the 'Happening Hyderabad' campaign, the State Government said that the move was aimed at supporting and encouraging events related to Arts, culture, sports and entrepreneurship to enhance community engagement and interaction. "During the current year, the government sanctioned an amount of Rs 271 crore for the purchase of 4,433 vehicles for Hyderabad and Cyberabad police. Of them, 3,883 vehicles equipped with modern technology have already been purchased," it said.
The government hoped that the ITIR region, spread across 202-square kilometre, would get investments of over Rs 2.19 lakh crore and create 15 lakh direct jobs.
The State Government also listed out other projects like the Hyderabad Metro Rail whose completion would boost the city's image as a global city.
