TS Govt to give half kg extra sugar for Ugadi Hyderabad, March 12 (INN): Civil Supplies Commissioner C Partha Sarathi on Thursday informed that the Telangana Government has decided to supply half-a-kg additional sugar as festival quota in connection with Ugadi, the Telugu New Year's Day.
The Government had earlier released additional quota of sugar for all BPL Cardholders at half kg per card for Ramzan festival. In order to ensure that the cardholders have the benefit of having additional quantity of sugar for Ugadi festival, the government considered to release an additional quantity of half kg sugar at Rs 6.75 per packet.
A quantity of 4486.854 MTs (i.e 8973708 1/2kg packets) of sugar is allotted to districts for distribution at half kg extra per card at Rs 6.75 per pack to all the BPL families (i.e FSC/AFSC cards/coupon holders).
All the Collectors (CS) / CRO, Hyderabad have been instructed to get the additional allotment of sugar lifted by the F.P. Shop dealers immediately and arrange its distribution to the cardholders through PDS, by giving wide publicity in Rural/ Urban areas.
All the BPL families /cardholders are informed that during the month of March 2015, they can draw 1 kg of sugar (in two half kg packets) for Rs.13.50 per kg.
