iSuzu to begin operations by April 2016 Hyderabad, March 23 (INN): A delegation led by Isuzu India Managing Director Takashi Kikuchi met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday to update him on the company's progress with the manufacturing facility in Sri City.
During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Kikuchi informed the Chief Minister that the company will manufacture pick-up trucks at the facility and that it would start operations by April 2016.
Isuzu set up a manufacturing facility in Sri City with an initial investment of Rs1,500 crore.
Following his meeting with the Chief Minister in Japan last year, Kikuchi informed the CM today that nearly 75 suppliers are keen to invest in Andhra Pradesh. 'We will require the government to drive ancillary industries too,' iSuzu executives requested the Chief Minister.
Replying to their suggestion, the Chief Minister said that the government will come up with a policy for ancillary industries in the next Cabinet meeting. The Chief Minister added that the state will also identify clusters within Sri City and in other areas of the state where ancillary industries will be set up.
Meanwhile, iSuzu executives informed the Chief Minister that the facility will provide nearly 1,500 to 200 jobs to locals.
The Chief Minister briefed them that he wants to make Nellore-Chennai-Tirupati the automobile hub on the lines of Tokyo-Kawasaki-Yokohama trio cities.
On meeting with the suppliers who want to invest in Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister said that the industries and infrastructure department will meet them during the launch of investment mission (a sub-mission of the government) on April 24 this year.
Principal Secretary to CM Satish Chandra and Secretary (Industries) SS Rawat were present at the meeting.
