News: Special Stories | Police trains TG SB Staff on 'Verifast' Project
Hyderabad, April 13 (INN): About 250 Special Branch police officers/personnel from the 10 Districts of Telangana State were given one week hands on training programme at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate in Gachibowli on the usage of i-pads for Speedy verification of passports.
The Cyberabad Police had successfully completed the pilot project and launched the uage of tabs to verify passport applications about two months ago. The earlier time lag of 15 to 21 Days for verification of applications was significantly reduced to three days with the use of online system of verification and transmission of reports through tabs with internet GPRS connectivity. This is a citizen friendly system in which the applicant gets an SMS mentioning the name and mobile number of the verifier and telling the applicant to be available within the next three days.
Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma has studied the system and decided to expand this system to the entire Telangana State. 1000 i-pads have been issued to the districts to cater to this. Cyberabad SB team led by ACP Passports Section Ravinder Reddy conducted this training in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate for six days and all the 250 staff was given theoretical and practical inputs and training on usage of the i-pads and the entire process.
Cyberabad Commissioner CV Anand spoke to the participants and explained how this successful pilot project by Cyberabad is being launched all over India by the Ministry of External affairs and it is a matter of great pride for the Telangana Police and Telangana State and exhorted everyone to stop old practices of passport verification and adopt the new technology in the right spirit of service to people.
