Reduce human element in cleaning: HMWSSB Chief Hyderabad, May 27 (INN): Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Managing Director M Jagadeeshwar has stressed the need for development of technologies which could reduce human element in sewage cleaning as against the prevailing situation wherein scavengers are employed to clean sewers/dispose sewage.
'The scavengers are also human beings and they should be given them their due in this civilized society,' Jagadeeshwar said while addressing a one-day workshop on 'Latest Technology in Water & Waste Water Sectors' on Wednesday at the Institute of Engineers at Khairatabad. He observed that there should be regular interaction between Board Engineers and industries to achieve a zero human element in sewer cleaning. Customers are willing to pay little extra for modern technological equipment provided they offer better quality and performance. He hoped this one-day workshop would come out with fruitful solutions.
About 20 companies from all over India participated and gave Power Point Presentations in the workshop. Some of the companies exhibited their products on the occasion.
HMWSSB Directors and senior officials also addressed the workshop.
