Dy CM inaugurates 4 centres of Rs 5 meal scheme Hyderabad, May 27 (INN): Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Wednesday inaugurated four centres of Rs 5/- food scheme at at Mahboob Gunj, Azampura Chaman, Dabirpura Darwaza and Bada Bazar in the Old City.
With these four centres, the GHMC has extended the subsidised food scheme to 33 Centres across its limits. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Yakutpura MLA Mohd Mumtaz Khan and GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister described Rs 5/ meal scheme was very innovative and it directly helps the poor and needy. He said that the GHMC would open nearly 100 food scheme centres in the GHMC limits in the coming days.
Somesh Kumar informed that nearly 300 people are benefitting from each of the 33 centres by taking meals only for Rs. 5. He said the scheme is being implemented with the help of Hare Krishna Foundation. While each meal is costing about Rs 22.50, the GHMC is providing a subsidy of Rs 15 while Rs 2.50 is being provided by the Hare Krishna Foundation.
Additional Commissioner (H&S) N Ravi Kiran, Zonal Commissioner (South) Balasubrahmanyam Reddy and other officials of GHMC participated in the inauguration function.
