Haj flights for TS, AP pilgrims from Sept 2 Hyderabad, June 16 (INN): The Haj Flights from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh this year will commence from September 2, by Air India from Haj Terminal of GMR Rajiv Gandhi Airport at Shamsabad.
Over 5,500 pilgrims will perform Haj from both the states. The GMR Airport Authority will provide Conveyor Belt facility in the Haj Terminal at RGIA, besides full air conditioned facility there. Minorities Welfare Department Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel held a high level meeting with GMR officials at the Airport on Tuesday regarding problems and issues faced by the Haj pilgrims while boarding and alighting the Haj flights. It was agreed to provide all possible facilities to the pilgrims at the Haj Terminal. State Haj Committee Special Officer Prof. S. A. Shukoor highlighted the issues faced by the Haj Committee during Haj Operations every year.
The GMR authorities gave a Power Point presentation about the proposed works to be taken up shortly for the convenience of Haj pilgrims and the visitors. They assured to start work of Conveyor Belt, Air Conditioning, Display Boards in and outside the Terminal, cement roads and concrete basement, Sound System, waterproof shades, toilets, prayer halls etc., in the visitors' area.
GMR officials including General Manager Yashpal Singh, Associate Vice-President Syed Hussain and other officials were present in the meeting.
